Niger: Launch of the call for tenders for the construction of the Gourou Banda solar power plant (50 MW)
(Ecofin agency) - Niger aims to increase its installed capacity which is currently 284 MW and to produce 30 % of its electricity from renewable sources by 2035.He thus integrated the Scaling Solar program to accelerate this process.
The Nigerian government has launched a call for tenders for the construction of a photovoltaic solar power plant near the capital Niamey.This is a prequalification process that will select an independent electricity producer for the implementation of the project to build a 50 MW solar power plant on the Gurou Banda plateau.
The company chosen will have to design, finance, build, install and put into service the infrastructure that will be installed as part of the World Bank Scaling Solar program.Interested PPIs have until November 22, 2021 to submit their offers.
Niger joined the SCALING SOLAR program of the International Financial Society in June 2021.The objective of the program is to encourage private companies to invest in solar.The program should ensure rapid implementation of electrical projects through public-private partnerships.
