Also, these studies will make it possible to carry out hydrographic and geophysics of the coastline and the sea on all the road that XLINKS intends to take for its submarine cable.VCRs will be used to detect potential unplodced ammunition.
"The geotechnical study aims to provide information on the characteristics of the underwater soil through the carotage of the seabed, penetration tests to the cone (CPT) as well as deeper drilling (25 meters) at the level of the pointsArrival on the ground, measures of temperature and conductivity of seabed, geotechnical laboratory tests (including carbon dating and X-rays) as well as tests of thermal soil sample properties ”, lit-On the call for tenders launched by XLinks.
XLINKS plans to set up solar and wind energy installations in the region of Guelmim-Oued Noun. This 1,500 km2 solar park should ultimately provide 3.6 GW of electricity. It will be coupled with the installation of a 5 GW battery to store energy in order to inject 10.5 GW of electricity into the UK network.
To transport electricity, XLINKS envisages the construction of a system of four HVDC submarine cables (High Voltage Direct Current, in French High Voltage DC) of 3800 km each, the longest submarine electric line in the world.

The underwater electrical interconnection project between southern Morocco and the United Kingdom provides for the construction of four high voltage cables of 1.8 GW which will be installed for about 3,800 kilometers under the water and will provide 8 %of the energy required in the United Kingdom.
As a reminder, the solar and wind power plant which should be operational by 2030, will be established for approximately 1,500 square kilometers and should produce 7 GW of solar and 3.5 GW of wind turbines. It will be connected exclusively to the United Kingdom, but 20 GWh / 5 GW batteries will be installed in Morocco to store energy.According to XLINKS estimates, this project will feed 7 million British households by 2030.

Scheduled in deep waters, these lines will have to cross Spain, Portugal and France. The first cable should be laid in 2025 for an online in 2027.The other three cables would follow two years later, in 2029.
Morocco has already undertaken to make available to XLinks a land surface of 150.000 hectares to accommodate the photovoltaic solar farm, wind turbines but also the huge 5 GW battery intended for the storage of energy produced on the site.
