Home security is an important consideration these days, the concern is that security services can sometimes be expensive and may not be optimal for the price. This is why monitoring your own home can sometimes be the best option thanks to connected devices such as switchbot kits. So we received the Hub Mini pack with two Indoor Cameras to test this for you.

Hub mini
Once the box of the Hub mini has been opened, it's quite basic, you will find the box in a first compartment and the cable and manual in the second. The Hub is square in white plastic, rather small with its 6.5 cm in length and width as well as its 2 cm in thickness, it will go completely unnoticed.
On the front you will find the LED connection indicators as well as the SwitchBot logo which is not visible at all since everything is white. On the bottom of the case, you will have the recess for the connection of the micro-USB cable to power the Hub Mini and on the top the connection button.

The cameras, like the hub, come in very basic packaging with only the camera, the feet, but also a small box with the micro-USB cable as well as the mains socket. The camera itself is also quite small with its 5.8 cm side and its 3.4 cm thickness, all in white plastic, it will be very discreet in your home. The front of the camera is square with rounded corners and in the center the lens in a black circle.
On the lower edge, you will have the hole to fix the foot as well as all the legal information of the camera. On the right side there is a MicroSD card port and on the back a micro-USB port to power the camera as well as the button remained and a second hole for the foot depending on how you want to position the camera.
The stand is quite basic, it is white and conical in shape with the part that is placed on the camera which is movable in order to orient the lens as you wish. Underneath, you will obviously have rubber pads so that the device does not move.

Configuration and installation
Hub Mini
In order to connect your Hub, you will first need to download the SwitchBot application available on all platforms once installed, you will therefore need to add a device, and choose the Hub Mini from the list of compatible devices and press the hub button for three seconds. Once the hub has been detected, the application will ask you to connect the device to wifi.
Once the Hub mini is connected, all you have to do is pair it with all your compatible devices such as the cameras we have here, but also your television, your shutters, your light and most of the devices in your home if they are are compatible.

If you create your network of connected objects, everything goes through this hub and it will be enough to configure each object and use it as a control point without having to use each connected object one by one.
Indoor Cam
The cameras are very easy to connect, once again the app is required. So just plug them into the mains, go to the app and like the Hub Mini, choose the camera from the device list and a QR code should appear.

Of course you will be able to create configurations (scenes like the SwitchBot site) from the Hub Mini and therefore connect two or more cameras together, add a motion detector and more according to your needs and desires.
The configuration of the two devices is certainly not the easiest at first glance, nevertheless the application is very intuitive and quite simple. I also had no particular problem or bug in the installation of objects or in use. Everything works perfectly well and does not require a lot of connection, an excellent point.
Image and audio quality
The image quality of the SwitchBot Indoor Cam cameras is quite good, it can display 480p and 720p which in my opinion is more than enough to cameras like these, once displayed on my phone screen, the images are clear, you can see well and distinguish objects and faces well.

As for the audio, the microphones are not the best, but it allows at least to hear what is said in the room, after all that is what we ask nothing more. Note also that you can add a microcompatible in your configuration, which can be rather practical.
Application and functionality
The application is as I have already said quite simple, it allows you to configure your objects directly from the first page, and this, very easily. In the scene part, you will be able to perform actions according to conditions or a defined schedule, for example if you tell your hub that you are leaving home, it will turn on the cameras and start the motion detection function.
In the profile section, you will be able to see the application settings, so adjust the date, the temperature display system, add widgets, configure Siri shortcuts and restore the software of your connected devices. You will also be able to see the different notifications that the device has sent to you and of course configure them.

The kit is very easy to configure thanks to the application which is very intuitive, moreover the available options are very well done and everything integrates perfectly with the Hub Mini to create personalized device configurations.
