Meaux: nearly forty new CCTV cameras before the end of the year

The urban supervision center (CSU) of the municipal police of Meaux (Seine-et-Marne) is one of the largest in Ile-de-France. A real pride for Jean-François Copé, a large part of whose policy is focused on security. The mayor has made the fight against delinquency his hobbyhorse by attacking working-class neighborhoods and adding a few more video surveillance cameras in the city each year.
It also shows the evolution of the city of Meaux and the success of its municipal police to major political figures, the latest being the government spokesman, Gabriel Attal. His visit to Meaux, for the closure of the Beauvau de la Sécurité, was an opportunity for Jean-François Copé to recall that he adds on average, each year, ten additional cameras in the streets.
306 cameras by December in Meaux
But this year, this figure is likely to increase since it is not ten, nor twenty, but nearly forty new video surveillance cameras that will be installed in different districts of Meaux by the end of the year.
Last July, 265 cameras were in operation. There will be 306 in the next few months. The deployment began in September. "Installing new cameras aims to strengthen our network, and therefore our efficiency, and to adapt to the evolution of delinquency and incivility" specifies the town hall of Meaux.

A network of the whole city
If the City decides to add new cameras to its streets every year, it is to keep an eye on all the events that could occur in all the axes and important accesses of Meaux.
“The objective being to have video coverage throughout the territory, the deployment will continue in order to reach areas that are not or insufficiently covered. Deployment must be consistent. It is subject to technical constraints and responds to a security logic. Some locations complement others in order to improve control of our territory,” concludes the municipality.
