Buell motorcycle production resumes
The Hammerhead 1190 on the production lines
Opening reservations from November 1st
Buell's story is not the simplest. But the American brand has always been able to bounce back to revive its activity after a bankruptcy. This is again the case as the new Buell finally prepares to relaunch its production and market its Hammerhead 1190.
For those who have not followed the tribulations of the American manufacturer, here is a brief reminder. It was Erik Buell, a former Harley-Davidson, who founded the brand in 1983 before the Milwaukee manufacturer acquired it in 1993. In 2009, in the midst of a crisis, Harley decided to put an end to Buell , but keep the rights. The founder then creates Erik Buell Racing (EBR) with which he develops a new V-Twin engine for his 1190 derived in RS, RX and SX which he even leads in WSBK. But in 2015, EBR filed for bankruptcy. The activity continues despite everything, but it is again bankruptcy in 2017 while the buyers follow one another for two years. Erik Buell then definitively leaves the brand that bears his name.
Eventually, Harley-Davidson decides to resell the rights of the original Buell company and it is the owner of EBR who acquires it. Buell rises from the ashes of EBR, without Erik Buell rolling for Fuell and announcing his re-renewal.
Renewal at last, it's easy to say, because if the brand is ambitiously planning to embark on the big trail and even to release ten new models by 2024, it is indeed the EBR 1190 RX of 2013 which returns to life as Buell Hammerhead.
Unveiled last summer, the American sports car will soon go into production. Things are therefore materializing for the new Buell brand, which has also announced that reservations for its first motorcycle will open from November 1st.
Prices, markets where they will be available and delivery times for the Hammerheads are still unclear, but the manufacturer has promised to clear all that up before the end of the month.
