The new GoPro takes a photo if you ask it kindly |igeneration
Gopro has presented the latest generation of its portable and sporting camera which has been in immense success in recent years. The fifth version will be available from October 2 for € 430.The hero5 still films in 4K in the worst conditions, but it also distinguishes its predecessors by an objective: to simplify its use as much as possible.
The first novelty is the addition of voice commands that allow you to launch a recording or take a photo without touching the camera. The hero5 is supposed to understand and act when you ask it to take a photo, which can be practical for the slightly extreme selfies where it is impossible (or dangerous) to touch the physical button on the device.Seven languages, whose French, will be supported at launch and it will also work to take a photo during the shooting.
Then the camera is waterproof up to 10 meters deep without having to add an accessory.Previously, you needed a waterproof box to use a GoPro underwater, but this is no longer the case: you can buy it and throw yourself in the water from unpacking. And as soon as you connect the camera to a socket, it can put its content online on Wi-Fi.
The touch screen on the back also participates in this simplification and you should be able to use it without reading the manual according to the manufacturer. This screen will also control the shooting and change the settings with an immediate return on the effect obtained. The Hero5 also benefits from better stabilization of the images and three microphones which should improve the associated audio recording.
Gopro has presented several other new products today, with the Hero5 session, a miniature version of the main camera which will be sold € 330.But the most interesting is probably Karma, a drone compatible with the Hero4, Hero5 and Hero5 session. For the rest, this newcomer on the market resumes many attributes seen elsewhere, but Gopro has tried to simplify the use of a drone as much as possible.
The Karma folds in a fairly small backpack and even if the manufacturer does not too much mention the weight of the whole (about 2.6 kg), its ability to fall is rather ingenious.Another good idea, the front stabilization module can convert into Gimbal to hold the camera by hand while having a stable image. If you don't want to buy the drone, you can settle for this stabilization accessory, sold separately for € 330.
The manufacturer also insists on the ease of use of the drone, with a supplied controller which integrates a control screen.Karma will return to your position on its own, you can schedule routes ... But to benefit from this technology wonder, we will have to pay, and it is not given.Count 870 € without the camera, € 1,200 with a hero5.Deliveries will start at the end of October.
