Express arrest in Mirande of a hooded and armed criminal
The gendarmes were responsive yesterday to arrest a man in Mirande suspected of having committed a burglary at the home of a private individual in the town of Laas.
It did not take 30 minutes for the gendarmes to arrest a man suspected of having, hooded and apparently armed, robbed and threatened a resident of Laas. These facts indeed took place yesterday, shortly before 1 p.m., in the heart of this town located south-west of Mirande. A man who had entered the home of a private individual was caught in the act: the owner who returns home at lunchtime, discovers that a vehicle is parked in front of her gate; as she prepares to cross it, a man appears, hooded and armed; he then throws these words at him: “I mean you no harm…” Then, he rushes into a Peugeot 306. In shock, the victim enters his house and immediately alerts the gendarmerie. She gives them the description of the vehicle and its license plate, and gives a description of the guy including his clothing. A research plan is immediately launched. In addition, the presence of a video surveillance camera at the victim's home will greatly help the work of the gendarmerie.
Arrested in Mirande
The Peugeot was quickly spotted; a suspect was arrested in Mirande by three members of the surveillance and intervention platoon (Psig) of Auch.
The supposed thug fiercely denies being involved in the charges, but a search of the vehicle reveals under the seat a screwdriver, a balaclava, gloves... and a weapon, which turns out to be fake although very similar to a original model. The suspect has since been taken into custody.
Born in Agen 32 years ago, his record shows an eloquent track record: more than 20 convictions, some of which for similar acts.
The man therefore remains at the disposal of the investigators under the regime for the moment of police custody and to answer for the facts of attempted armed robbery.
Yesterday morning, the Gers gendarmes also proceeded to forcefully arrest an individual living in Vic-Fezensac. The latter had "omitted" to return to his detention center following an exit permit.
