It is no surprise that Epic Games has decided to appeal the judgment. Of a total of ten counts, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers condemned Apple on only one point: that of preventing publishers from redirecting consumers to their own sites and means of payment. This semblance of victory is however bitter on the side of the creators of Fortnite, who are fighting for alternative payment methods to be directly accessible in iOS applications, without being subject to the brand's commission, but also to have a situation recognized. abuse of dominant position by Apple.
Immediately after the judge's verdict, Tim Sweeney, head of Epic Games, expressed his disappointment: "Today's decision is not a victory for developers or developers. consumers. Epic is fighting for fair competition between in-app payment methods and app stores for one billion consumers. Fortnite will return to the iOS App Store when Epic can offer in-app payment that competes fairly with Apple's and can pass the savings on to consumers."
So the case still seems far from over...
