Problem with MacBook Pro 2021 notch: apple tells you how to adjust app settings
After the problems with the new notch of MacBook Pro 2021 M1 Pro and M1 Max of 14 and 16 inches, Apple posts a support page on its site and indicates how to adjust the application settings so that the notch does not hide the icon of the menus bar and the status bar.
For example, the manufacturer says that users can adjust the settings of an application so that it uses the entire screen or uses only the area below the notch (under the FaceTime camera).
Problem with the notch of the MacBook Pro 2021: apple says what to do
The manufacturer specifies that if the application controls or menu bar items appear blocked or hidden behind the notch (camera box), you can activate "scale to fit the embedded camera" so that the application adjusts the active area of your screen. This ensures that the menu bar and application windows appear under the built-in camera of your Mac and are always visible.
If you enable "scale to fit under embedded camera" for an application and the application has menu bar elements or windows that would appear behind the camera case, all open applications or applications sharing the same space will appear under the camera until you exit the application using the scaled setting.
Enable "scale up to fit the built-in camera" for an app
Here is how Apple enables "scale up to fit the built-in camera":
In addition, Apple announces that applications can be updated to work better with this area of your screen. Therefore, if a developer updates its application for compatibility with your Mac, the parameter "scale to fit the embedded camera" will no longer be available for the application in question. Let's hope that a future MacOS update will correct the game.
