What is the deadline for receiving your final permit?
First of all, you should know that before receiving your final permit, a provisional certificate is first issued by the inspector who assessed the exam. This is the Driving License Examination Certificate, or CEPC, including the mention " favorable ", the date of the test, the quantified details of the evaluation as well as the final mark obtained, equal to or greater than 20 points.
This certificate is valid for 4 months from the date it is obtained. It allows free movement on public roads, pending receipt of the final permit. It should be noted that in order to warn other users of their young driver status, it is compulsory to attach the A badge to the back of their vehicle. In addition, once the provisional certificate has expired, the driver risks being fined for " failure to present the driving licence ", with the obligation to present it within five days. If the permit is not presented on time, the fine will be increased to 135 euros.
The certificate is not valid abroad. Indeed, driving with this duplicate is considered as driving without a license. Outside France, you should then wait to receive your final permit.
How long does it take to receive your final permit?
If the steps are carried out correctly, the final driving license can be obtained after a period of 4 months, and will have to be renewed after 15 years. In addition, it should be noted that after obtaining it, the holder is considered a "young driver". He will therefore start with a starting capital of 6 points, and will accumulate 2 additional points each year.
The license is then said to be " probationary " until the driver is confirmed, after 3 years. For people who have opted for the AAC course, the license is credited with three points every year, provided that the driver has not committed any offense for a period of two years instead of three. To obtain the maximum of 12 points, young drivers will have to comply with rules during their probationary years.
In addition, the electronic license is delivered free of charge to the holder's home, with the exception of certain regional prefectures which require the payment of a regional tax, in particular Corsica (€33), Limousin (€27), and in the Poitou-Charentes region (€25). This amount can be paid by check, credit card, cash or money order. A code is also given to know its point balance, which can be consulted on the Télépoint site.
Namely, if when the postman passes, the holder is absent, a delivery notice will be left and you will have to go to the post office to collect the permit.
How long does it take to receive your license after a suspension or a renewal?
If an application has been submitted following a suspension or a renewal, the new license will be issued within two months . In addition, in order to follow the progress of the file, it is possible to obtain information on the ANTS site using your identifiers, or by going through France Connect.
