Prime Coup de Pouce Heating: aid for gas boilers
To encourage households to invest in energy renovation work, the State deploys aid that can be combined with each other, such as MaPrimeRénov, the zero-rate eco-loan, VAT reduced to 5.5% , and possibly local aid. To find out about the financial aid that can be obtained for the energy renovation of one's home, an online simulator - Simul'aides - is available on the site www.faire.gouv.fr, the government site which provides information and advice for energy renovation.
My PrimeRénov': more eligible households since October 1, 2020
The latest news, since October 1st, concerns the PrimeRénov', which had been launched on 1st January 2020. So that even more households can renovate their homes, it is evolving, becoming the main state aid for energy renovation. It thus completely replaces the ecological transition tax credit, CITE. The France Relance plan provides MaPrimeRénov with an additional 2 billion euros over two years.
By 2022, 6 billion euros of work will therefore be generated, and 22,000 jobs created.
Since the beginning of 2020, more than 100,000 requests have already been submitted, and more than 150,000 accounts have been created on the dedicated platform. Over 75,000 applications have been granted.
The opening of MaPrimeRénov' to everyone is accompanied by several measures, in particular:
Heating Helping Hand Bonus the different types of heating eligible
The Heating Helping Hand Bonus is a bonus deducted from the installation bill for your new heating system. Each beneficiary can only receive one Booster Heating bonus. But he can combine it with MaPrimeRévov, with the energy transition tax credit (CITE) 2020, and the zero-rate eco-loan. On the other hand, it cannot be combined with aid from ADEME or offers from eligible players in the CEE system who issue energy saving certificates such as “Living better with peace of mind” from ANAH.
The Heating Booster has been extended until December 31, 2021. Applicants for energy savings certificates (EEC) must be signatories of the Heating Booster commitment charter.

The grant is eligible for many types of heating: biomass boiler, air/water or water/water heat pump, combined solar system, hybrid air/water heat pump, connection to an renewable energy heating network. R, the THPE gas boiler, the independent wood-burning appliance, the insulation of the attic and roof, and the insulation of a low floor.
Gas boilers and Heating Boost
Many individuals are used to oil, gas or coal boilers, and want to keep this type of heating. In these cases, they can obtain assistance to install a boiler with very high energy performance.
The seasonal energy efficiency of the new boiler must be at least 92% (this apart from the regulation device). The boiler must have a minimum class IV regulator, and its power must be less than or equal to 70 kW.
To connect to gas, individuals concerned about their energy footprint can also choose an electricity and gas supplier whose objective is to offer carbon-neutral electricity (which means that the electricity does not emit no or very little CO2 during its production phase). The Swedish supplier Fattenfall thus invests nearly one billion euros each year in the development of renewable energies (wind, solar, hydraulic).
Many individuals still choose natural gas boilers because they are not bulky and require little maintenance. Condensing gas boilers offer excellent thermal performance, which is further multiplied when a programmer or thermostat is added. One of the advantages is that the heat is evenly distributed in all rooms of the house or apartment. Condensing boilers are particularly efficient with low temperature emitters such as soft heat radiators or underfloor heating. They can also be used at the same time as a system that uses renewable energy, for example solar thermal.
Operation Coup de Pouce Heating who can benefit from it
All households are entitled to the Coup de Pouce Heating and Insulation offer, but the amounts of the bonuses vary according to the level of resources. For example, according to the ceilings in force since April 1, 2020, for a household of 4 people in Île-de-France, the income ceiling is 51,597 euros. For the other regions, still for a household of 4 people, it is 39,192 euros.
Depending on income and the type of equipment to be replaced, the premiums are at least 1,200 euros for the replacement of a boiler by a gas boiler with very high energy performance for low-income households. For other households, they are at least 600 euros.
The bonus is paid in several forms, either in vouchers for everyday consumer products, or by bank transfer or cheque. It can also be deducted from the installation bill for the new heating.
How to use several energies in your home
France is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050, with changes in line with the proposals of the Citizens' Climate Convention. The latter, to accelerate the fight against climate change, must define measures to achieve a reduction of at least 40% in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (compared to 1990). The window of opportunity to prevent an irreversible climate runaway is only a few years. To limit global warming to 1.5°C, fossil fuels must be replaced, and decarbonization of activities is essential.
Individuals, to contribute to this planetary effort, can choose to invest in equipment that accepts several kinds of energy or fuels, thus facilitating the transition from one energy to another.
There are boilers with a mixed oil/gas burner, or even hybrid systems with a gas boiler and a small heat pump (PAC). People who prefer a wood boiler can choose one that works with several fuels such as logs, but also chips, chips, or pellets.
