Students organize a meeting with hunters to silence received ideas LA CHASSONS.COM WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
In Rodez, in the Aveyron, three students from the La Roque agricultural high school, in animal production BTS, carried out a project on the theme of hunting. A theme that, for many people, remains a deeply negative subject. It is with this in mind that the three students in question organized a meeting with the hunters, for all their comrades.
No less than 35 students made the trip to Rodelle, to discuss face-to-face with the Departmental Federation of Aveyron Hunters. Among the major themes addressed, there was the question of hunting safety, at the heart of many current debates, but also of the action carried out by hunters in the context of environmental protection.
Victor, one of the organizers of this meeting, explains it clearly: “It is important not to stop only at what you can read on the various social networks. Hunters play a very important role in the management and restoration of natural environments, they also have an essential action to limit damage to crops”.

Before adding: “Today, in many municipalities in the department, hunting is the only association and generates strong social ties. “Strong topics that debunk received ideas about hunting. Jean-Gabriel, another member of the trio, says: "We chose the theme of hunting to invite our comrades to go beyond the biased image conveyed by social networks and certain media".
For their part, the hunters congratulate this initiative, which allows them, for once, to express themselves without filter. Jean-Pierre Authier, president of the departmental federation of hunters, has also underlined the importance of communication: "For years, we have not communicated on all the actions carried out by hunters in the field in favor of the environment (€300,000 per year in favor of biodiversity) and on the enormous work carried out on hunting safety. For too long we have left the field open to hucksters and other pseudo-naturalists who seek to denigrate us only to better fill their online pots so that they do not have to work”.
