Congo Brazzaville: Eni supports the decarbonization policy of the energy mix
(Agence Ecofin) - Committed to reducing the ecological impact of its energy portfolio by 2050, the Italian oil and gas company Eni is increasing its agreements with the governments of the countries where it operates.
Claudio Descalzi (pictured left), boss of Italian energy giant Eni, met Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso (pictured right) on October 4. The exchanges between the two men mainly focused on the joint development of the biorefinery sector and cooperation in efforts to combat climate change.

At the same time, Eni has also committed to supporting the 2018-2022 plan for the development of Congolese agriculture. To this end, an agreement has been signed with the Congolese authorities and will serve as a framework for the production of castor oil on an industrial scale.
In addition, Claudio Descalzi explained that he had discussed with the Congolese president the development of gas in a producing country where most of the gas associated with crude oil is flared. This approach, which is based on Eni's commitment to participate in the decarbonization of the energy mix of the African countries where the company is present, aims, he says, to guarantee the development and economic diversification of the country.
