1While the number of drones in circulation continues to grow at a good pace, a specialized company has just expanded its catalog with a hitherto unseen accessory. It is now possible to order an adaptable flamethrower.
Good news for drone enthusiasts who also like to play with fire: now they can literally combine these two passions. Indeed, since Thursday July 18, it is officially possible to order the TF-19 WASP, an adaptable flamethrower for drones. Launched on the market by the aptly named company Throwflame, which specializes in the somewhat particular niche of flamethrowers, the machine is not a toy. Draped in carbon fiber to reduce its weight on the scale, it features a 3.8 liter tank that allows it to spit flames for approximately 100 seconds continuously. The range of his shot is 25 feet, or 7.62 meters.
Marketed at $1,499 (without the drone), the TF-19 WASP is, according to Throwflame, intended for professionals who are sometimes confronted with delicate interventions (which does not prevent anyone from going through order). Concretely, the firm suggests, for example, using its machine to clear high-voltage lines or other cables suspended on which debris has fallen, to eliminate nests of dangerous insects or even to light preventive fires in forest areas. Naturally, depending on the requirements of the operation, a suitable drone should be provided. The manufacturer indicates that it favors the DJI S1000, visible in the video below.
According to the words of the founder of Throwflame, the company's usual clientele is evenly distributed between professionals and individuals who see flamethrowers as a means of distraction. For the good of forests, among others, let's hope that the price of this new accessory will be enough to somewhat limit the interest of the second category...
