But soon, the LEADER Lëtzebuerg West initiative will spread to five other sites.
Unity is strength. It can even produce green electricity! And the launch of the regional energy cooperative LEADER Lëtzebuerg West is there to demonstrate it. Thus, since 2019, seven municipalities and their inhabitants have been considering the installation of solar installations on the roofs of their municipal sites, but by "offering" these spaces to those of their fellow citizens who wish to invest in a common project for the production of solar energy. 'electricity. The idea became reality, on Tuntange (Helperknapp) but the rest awaits Garnich, Habscht, Koerich, Mamer, Mersch and Steinfort.
Record in sight for Luxembourg solar
In 2021, the country's photovoltaic installations will provide more than 200 megawatts of green electricity. A first! Knowing that a new call for tenders from the Ministry of Energy promises eleven additional large-scale projects for the next 18 months. Thus, thanks to the financial commitment of the cooperators, three photovoltaic installations have already been commissioned. And connected to the national power grid. Panels that can be seen above the fire station and the technical services premises in Tuntange, but also the village hall in Moesdorf (Mersch) or the technical service workshop in Koerich.
Sites not chosen at random, but chosen for the good potential of UV/kilowatt yield. Thus, within the framework of this project, a call had been made upstream to the EnergiPark of Beckerich (expert in the field of sustainable energy) to determine the best installation points, according to the sums to be committed. And from the analysis of 24 municipal buildings emerged a list of exploitable spots.
A more advantageous redemption
Thus, in the near future, the cooperative intends to spread its wings over the school in Brouch (Helperknapp), the youth center in Hagen (Steinfort), the technical service of the MerschInstitut social and the MerschMierscher Kulturhaus (Mersch ) particularly. What increase a little more the share of energy from renewable sources in the Luxembourg mix.
