A joint declaration of the National Museum Foundation (FNM) and the Institute for Research on Solar Energy and the New Energies (Iresen) underlines the anticipation of the museum to become "the perfect model of the harmonious alliance of the'art and environmental responsibility ”.
The FNM signed agreements with IRESEN and its international research platform Green Energy Park (GEP) in October 2020 to install solar panels and create a cooperation framework between the two institutions.
The GEP platform has developed the energy transition model, which is based on a mixed approach including the integration of renewable energy sources, by setting up a photovoltaic solar power plant on the roof. The power plant generates a power of 130 kwp and has a photovoltaic system integrated into the roadway.
This innovative model will feed MMVI in electricity and should reduce the building's energy bill by 50%, in addition to integrating a 20 kWh storage solution for better management of consumption during time.
"It is also based on a complete automation of the supervision and management of environmental parameters (relative humidity, temperature and air quality)," noted the press release quoted by the Moroccan state news agency.

This approach being a first in Africa, the Moroccan museum is positioned as a pioneer in the installation of solar panels in its building.
Created in 2011, the mission is to support Morocco's energy strategy. While the country's current objective targets 52% renewable energies in the total capacity installed by 2030, the Moroccan government has recently announced its vision to bring the share of renewable energies to 70% by 2040 and 80%by 2050.
