Geneva energy-A solar power plant is installed in Bois-de-Bay
Solar panels will be used to supply the building, companies and charging stations for electric vehicles around the industrial area of Satigny.
A solar power plant located on the roof of a company in the industrial area of Bois-de-Bay, in Satigny, was inaugurated Tuesday by the representatives of the cantonal authorities. The installation occupies 6500 m2, a surface corresponding more or less for a football field.

The power station belongs to the Foundation for the Industrial Land of Geneva (FTI) and to the industrial services of Geneva (GIS).Varia Swiss Realtech Properties SA has lent its roof. The installation will produce 1.4 GWh per year, the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of more than 450 households.
The power station is made up of 3,500 solar panels. The energy it produces will be self -consumed on site at almost 10% for the needs of the building. The rest is reinjected into the main network.Ultimately, the installation will cover a share of the needs of other future companies that will settle in the vicinity.
The development of a microorèseau can supply electrical energy up to six adjacent plots and almost half of the energy will be self -consumed, the GIS and the FTI said in a press release.Energy prices will remain stable throughout the life of the power plant.
This new achievement is the seventeenth central solar photovoltaic exploited by the GIS at the cantonal level. This set allows the production of almost 18GWH.In 2030, the goal of the Canton of Geneva was to arrive at 350 GWh of electricity production of photovoltaic origin.
The panels of the new power station will also be used to supply charging stations for electric vehicles accessible to the public in the industrial zone.A project to develop the supply of electric charging stations, some of which can supply trucks, is also in progress.
