Algeria will play an axial role in the export of hydrogen in Europe at competitive prices

In an interview with the "Taqanet" electronic site, published Tuesday, Mr. Ziane said that the study established by his ministerial department and a German partner for the evaluation of hydrogen production capacities, in particular Green, hadindicated that "Algeria will play an axial role in the production and export of this quality (hydrogen) according to the significant capacities of energy -specific energy like solar and wind energy, in addition to the gas pipelines connected to theEurope and its experience in the production and marketing of natural gas ".

The Minister stressed, in this sense, that all these factors will have to make it possible to produce and market hydrogen at very competitive prices per kilo, in particular via pipelines ".

Responding to a question about the sources of financing hydrogen projects, Mr. Ziane stressed that the new vision was based on private, national and international investments, or what is commonly called energy independent producers.

Banks have "an important role" to play in this funding, in particular "green banks" which encourage this type of investment, which will rule out the possibility of using the public treasury, adds the minister.

Among the missions assigned to the Commission, the establishment of foundations for the development of hydrogen in Algeria starting from a prospective vision defining the contours of the means and methods to be used to develop hydrogen, starting with the sources of the'clean energy, water guarantee, and logistics, namely the means of production, transport and storage including oriented uses.

Regarding electric vehicles, the minister indicated that it is "an important challenge for Algeria, all the most of the major cities known in automotive industry are oriented towards the generalization of thisType of vehicles, hence the importance of developing a strategy adapted to this mutation, which also represents one of the main axes contained in the Action Plan of the Ministry ".
